The judging session was held in London on Tuesday 21st April 2009 and was attended by a number of top designers from the industry, each of whom commented on the high standard of this years entries. University of Glamorgan student Rebecca took the title with her plans for an ultra modern Matrix Bar which she designed from the spectacular range of furnishings in Satelliet-Browns new UK Catalogue. Many of Rebecca’s futuristic plans were incorporated into the Designers Bar at the show, including a 15 ft high piece of modern sculpture comprised of designer tub chairs welded together. Satelliet-Browns MD Harvey Ockrim said: “Rebecca was the toast of the show because the Designers Bar was a huge hit with all the delegates. She is a very talented designer. Jonothan Boys of Mitchell Refurbishments who were co sponsors and built the Designers Bar said: “Rebecca’s had some cracking ideas, and we used as many as possible when we built the Designers Bar.” Rebecca said: “It was a real thrill to win the competition and see my designs come to life at the show, and I am sure it will help me find a job.”  Satelliet-Browns, one of the country’s leading furniture suppliers to the leisure industry, attracted 24 entries from across the UK for its Student Design Challenge which is now in its 7th year.  Satelliet Browns Student Design Challenge 2008 Winners           1st Place - ART BAR - Ruth Blizzard (University of Glamorgan)   2nd Place - ENDLESS BAR - Anna Czarnowska (University of the Arts, London College of Communication)   3rd Place - i BAR - Kirsty Parsons (University of Glamorgan)               Satelliet Browns Student Design Challenge 2007 Winners     1st Place: WEE RED BAR - Vasiko Manjgaladze, Jennifer Dinwoodie, Rui Monteiro & Sam Hosker (Edinburgh College of Art & Design)   2nd Place: SWITCH BAR - Yuki Watanabe (University of the Arts London)   3rd Place: SU DUKO - Vikenta Petuskaite (University of Glamorgan)
