Lochside House Hotel, near New Cumnock, Ayrshire. When Robert and Vivien Kyle decided to refurbish the lounge, bar area and main dining room of their landmark Lochside House Hotel near Cumnock in Ayrshire they turned to their old friends at Satelliet Browns. Brothers Kevin and Harvey Ockrim, joint managing directors of Satelliet Browns have been furnishing licensed premises for the Kyles for the last ten years. Kevin Ockrim said: “We were working with Robert and Vivien even before they bought the Lochside House Hotel eight years ago, and it was a real pleasure to help them with another refurbishment programme. Vivien Kyle explained that she and her husband virtually rebuilt Lochside Hotel when they acquired it in 1999, and that as part of an ongoing refurbishment and modernisation programme decided to upgrade their Nithsdale Lounge and Dining Room. Vivien added: “The new look has proved extremely popular with both guests and diners alike. “We have changed the Nithsdale Lounge, which includes the bar area, by introducing a mixture of new fixed seating, deep tub chairs, and comfortable couches.
“So it is ideal for relaxed meetings over a drink or coffee or informal dining from our Lightbite and all-day menus. “We have also had a lot of favourable comments on the Nithsdale Dining room, and we’re seeing a lot of new faces for lunches and dinner, so the word has obviously got round. “The new look is also extremely popular with wedding parties which use the Nithsdale Lounge and Restaurant and the adjoining Lochview Suite. Joseph Doyle, Satelliet Brown’s sales manager said: The Lochside House lounge and dining room is a fantastic area to work with. “The dining room’s picture windows give panoramic views over the gardens and the Loch of the Lowes and the Afton Hills in the distance. “The views offset the furniture and compliment Mr and Mrs Kyle’s choice of colour scheme which continues from the lounge into the dining room with a lovely shade of burnt orange crushed velvet and brown leather seating off set by chunky square tables on a central plinth.” The Lochside House Hotel has 17 bedrooms 3 cottage suites in the grounds, and two function suites each with a capacity of around 220, in addition to the newly refurbished Nithsdale Lounge and Dining Room. The Hotel serves food from 12 midday through to 9.0pm with teas and coffees available earlier in the day. There is an All-Day menu with a Traditional ‘Taste of Ayrshire’ menu giving the mouth-watering choices served in comfortable surroundings throughout End
