Satelliet Browns assist with the challenge of refurbishing a centuries-old Coaching Inn Refurbishing the public areas of listed buildings is always a challenge.
And when the property is a former Coaching Inn dating back to the early 18th century, the pressure is really on. But Satelliet-Browns, the leading leisure industry furnishing specialists are absolutely delighted with the look and feel of the new lounge and lounge bar areas of the Inverkip Hotel. Alistair Hardy, Director and Co-owner of the Inverkip Hotel, which is in the heart of the Renfrewshire conservation village of Inverkip and dates back to 1735, is equally pleased with the service he received from Satelliet-Browns. Brothers Kevin and Harvey Ockrim are joint Managing Directors of Satelliet-Browns. Kevin said: “Our sales manager Joseph Doyle and his staff worked closely with Alistair and his team to make sure that the look and feel of the new furnishings compliment the wonderful atmosphere of the Inverkip Hotel. “We offer a space planning service in addition to providing an unrivalled choice of fixed and loose seating, tables and chairs. “So we were able to make sure that the available space in the front of the house part of the hotel was fully furnished in a way that maximises the number of covers, while making the space feel comfortable and uncluttered.” Harvey Ockrim added: “Properties like the Inverkip Hotel, with literally centuries of history behind them, have an atmosphere all of their own. “So it is a real challenge providing modern and comfortable designs that blend in with the ambience of the surroundings and make both the customers and the clients feel at home. “Alistair and his team had a very good idea of the effect they wanted to achieve, and we were able to supply the right mix of fixed and loose seating, tables and chairs. Satelliet-Browns’ Sales Manager Joseph Doyle added: “The area has a traditional McLean tartan carpet and we agreed to use warm colours like terracotta for the fixed seating, with brown faux hide. We polished the tables and chairs in a cherry finish which complemented the existing panelling.”
“We were particularly pleased with the combination of sumptuous back cushions used in the fixed seating for both areas. This provides an added touch of comfort and luxury.” Alistair Hardy said: “We decided to use Satelliet-Browns after seeing one of their other contracts featured in the Scottish Licensed Trade News. “We couldn’t be more delighted with the results. Satelliet-Browns were great to work with. “There is always someone available to help when you drop into their showroom in Hillington in Glasgow, and you can even pop through to the workshop and speak to the craftsmen who, in our case, were building our bench seating. “When it came to the fitting out, nothing was too much trouble. If a chair was too tight, it was sorted, without us having to make a fuss.” Alistair added: “Normally when you refurbish part of your premises, the customers take it in their stride. “But we have had lots of them come up and comment on what a good job we have done with the lounge and lounge bar areas. “The large loose cushions have been particularly popular. “I would be happy to recommend Satelliet-Browns to anyone.” The Inverkip Hotel has a good mix of regular customers including locals from the village itself, and others who travel from surrounding towns and villages including Largs, Greenock, Kilbarchan and Kilmalcolm. The hotel is also highly popular venue with the yachting fraternity using the nearby Kip Marina, Scotland’s premier marina.
The bars stock real ales, and a fine collection of over 60 malts and whisky blends. The Hotel’s menus rely heavily on local produce including fresh fish, meat, game and vegetables.
